Ryoku Ryoku is distributed under the GNU General Public License version 3. Ryoku's alpha series (through v0.1.1-alpha) began as a fork of Omarchy, created by David Heinemeier Hansson and contributors (https://github.com/basecamp/omarchy). The beta tree was pruned and rebuilt from an empty root; its installer, shell, theming, boot art, tooling and system definition are Ryoku's own. The Nomarchy bar style at ryoku/shell/quickshell/shell/modules/bar/barstyles/nomarchy/ is adapted from the Omarchy quattro shell at commit d9b970dd. The port keeps its bar, panels, widgets, plugin ABI, menu, notifications, OSD, reminders and media services. Window management crosses Ryoku's neutral provider, while Ryoku keeps ownership of wallpaper, capture, recording, lock, clipboard, policy authentication, idle inhibition, night light and updates. Omarchy is released under the MIT License. The upstream license and a detailed notice ship beside the port. The Ryoku shell is an original, custom shell. Its frame-blob rendering (the Ryoku.Blobs QML/C++ plugin) and parts of its animation and motion curves are adapted from the Caelestia shell: https://github.com/caelestia-dots/shell Caelestia is released under the GNU General Public License version 3; the adapted portions remain under that license, compatible with Ryoku's GPL-3. Portions of the Ryoku display configuration UI are adapted from DankMaterialShell, created by Avenge Media LLC and contributors: https://github.com/AvengeMedia/DankMaterialShell DankMaterialShell is released under the MIT License. Copyright (c) 2025 Avenge Media LLC. The configurable frame-bar layout, bounded rail/widget catalogue organisation, and Bar Studio workflow are adapted from OkShell by John Oberhauser: https://github.com/JohnOberhauser/OkShell/tree/87a9d09d923163cd03f396a395be3bb02b335b6e OkShell is released under the GNU General Public License version 3. The adapted frame-bar areas remain GPL-3.0-compatible with Ryoku's GPL-3 distribution. The Shima bar style (ryoku/shell/quickshell/inir/) is based on iNiR by snowarch (https://github.com/snowarch/inir). It is a modified version: Ryoku renamed it, gave it its own mark, dropped the Kira mascot, and runs it through Ryoku's neutral window-manager layer on Hyprland, niri and Wayfire. It is not iNiR or iRiS, and those names, logos and the Kira mascot belong to snowarch. iNiR is released under the GNU General Public License version 3 with additional section 7 terms; its NOTICE and LICENSE ship unchanged beside the code in ryoku/shell/quickshell/inir/. The Python bar style (ryoku/shell/quickshell/shell/modules/bar/barstyles/python/) is based on Serpantinum at commit cfdd810 (after 2.2.12) by ilyamiro and contributors (https://github.com/ilyamiro/serpantinum). It is a modified version: Ryoku renamed it, gave it its own mark, runs its data plane through Ryoku's neutral window-manager seam and services, and keeps the launcher, clipboard, wallpaper, lock, capture, notification server, policy agent, idle service, updater, first-run flow and desktop-widget host as Ryoku's own. Serpantinum is released under the GNU Affero General Public License version 3 or later; the ported portions keep that license (see the NOTICE and LICENSE beside the code), and AGPL-3.0 section 13 permits their combination with Ryoku's GPL-3 distribution. The Stage Editor (ryoku/shell/quickshell/stage/) is based on the Edit Mode of ii-p3drovfx by P3DROVFX and contributors (https://github.com/P3DROVFX/ii-p3drovfx), which builds on ii-vynx by vaguesyntax (https://github.com/vaguesyntax/ii-vynx) and end-4's illogical-impulse (https://github.com/end-4/dots-hyprland). It is a modified version: Ryoku runs it over its own desktop, widgets, wallpaper, visualizer and depth services, gives it the Ryoku look, and leaves out its lock screen, bar and dock editing. ii-p3drovfx is released under the GNU General Public License version 3; the ported portions keep that license, compatible with Ryoku's GPL-3. The ii dock design (ryoku/shell/quickshell/shell/modules/dock/ii/) is based on the dock of the same shell, ii-p3drovfx by P3DROVFX, Scrimas and contributors (https://github.com/P3DROVFX/ii-p3drovfx), itself descended from end-4's illogical-impulse (https://github.com/end-4/dots-hyprland). It is a modified version: Ryoku reads and writes its options through its own shared dock store and stage configuration, takes its global state, theme, window data and keybinds from the Ryoku shell and window-manager seams, and adds the store bridge that keeps the design in sync with the other dock designs. It is released under the GNU General Public License version 3; the ported portions keep that license, compatible with Ryoku's GPL-3. Kit's Dev tools, Commands, Typing test and Phone tabs (ryoku/shell/quickshell/keys/) and the phone module behind the Phone tab (ryoku/shell/quickshell/shell/modules/phone/) are based on the cheatsheet pages, phone services and Phone sidebar of ii-p3drovfx by P3DROVFX and contributors (https://github.com/P3DROVFX/ii-p3drovfx). They are modified versions: Ryoku draws them in its own look inside Kit and the Hub, keeps only the developer tools its users reach for, generates random values from /dev/urandom instead of Math.random, runs the phone services in the shell and lets Kit drive them over IPC, reads Android manifests with its own parser instead of pyaxmlparser, uses scrcpy for the phone webcam and microphone instead of DroidCam, installs the phone packages on demand, and routes window placement through the window-manager seam. They are released under the GNU General Public License version 3; the ported portions keep that license, compatible with Ryoku's GPL-3. The word lists and key sounds under ryoku/shell/quickshell/keys/typing/assets/ come from Monkeytype (https://github.com/monkeytypegame/monkeytype), released under the GNU General Public License version 3 only; the pinned upstream commit is recorded in the manifests beside them. The built-in desktop sounds under ryoku/shell/ipc/assets/ come from the freedesktop.org sound theme, renamed after the event they play for. Per that theme's credits: the notification sound (message-new-instant) is by Damien Sandras, GNU General Public License version 2 or later; battery-full (complete) is by Dr. Richard Boulanger et al, Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 Unported; the shutter (camera-shutter) is by freesound user horsthorstensen and volume-change (audio-volume-change) by Lucas McCallister, both Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike; the warning, plug, unplug and device sounds (dialog-warning, power-plug, power-unplug, device-added, device-removed) are by Ivica Bukvic, Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike. The QS Bar style at ryoku/shell/quickshell/shell/modules/bar/barstyles/qsbar/ is a port of Quickshell Rise by HANCORE-linux (https://github.com/HANCORE-linux/quickshell-dots). It is a modified version: Ryoku keeps Rise's island, full, fit, dock and notch forms, widgets, pop-up panels, settings panel and draggable editing, while replacing its Omarchy data and command integrations with Ryoku's wallpaper palette, neutral window-manager and host-service seams, package updates, wallpaper, media, audio, power and capture paths. Ryoku also rebrands the shell, merges its two runtime variants into one bar, and adds Ryoku settings and per-display controls. Quickshell Rise is released under the MIT License; that license is compatible with Ryoku's GPL-3 distribution, and the upstream license ships unchanged beside the port. The Redux dictation adapter (ryoku/hub/backend/assets/redux/adapter.py) is voxtype-redux-adapter v0.2.0 by Sipper1236 (https://github.com/Sipper1236/voxtype-redux-adapter), shipped unmodified inside ryoku-hub and installed with the Redux model from the Hub's Dictation page. It is released under the MIT License, which ships beside it and in the notice the installer writes; that license is compatible with Ryoku's GPL-3 distribution. The installer builds parakeet.cpp by the parakeet.cpp authors (https://github.com/mudler/parakeet.cpp, MIT) with its ggml submodule on the user's machine and downloads Moondream's Parakeet Redux weights, derived from NVIDIA Parakeet TDT 0.6B v3 (CC-BY-4.0); neither ships in a Ryoku package. The default Vesktop and Equibop theme (ryoku/apps/vesktop/themes/ryoku-discord.theme.css) is ryoku.theme.css v3.0.0 from ryoku-discord by Ron (niqqudim, https://github.com/niqqudim/ryoku-discord) at commit d9a0f2d, shipped unmodified under a Ryoku file name so it never replaces a copy a user installed by hand. It builds on refact0r's midnight and system24 Discord themes (https://github.com/refact0r/midnight-discord and https://github.com/refact0r/system24, both MIT). The client loads the rest of its styles, fonts and artwork from the upstream site when the theme is enabled; none of that ships in a Ryoku package. It is released under the MIT License, which ships unchanged beside it and is installed as /usr/share/licenses/ryoku-desktop/LICENSE.ryoku-discord; that license is compatible with Ryoku's GPL-3 distribution.
