Bridgeplay licensing ==================== Bridgeplay Copyright (C) 2026 NotProtonNot and the NotProton contributors Copyright (C) 2026 Leon Seemann (NotProton-WineHQ) Copyright (C) 2026 Raymond Chin and the Bridgeplay contributors https://github.com/raymondchins/Bridgeplay Bridgeplay is a modified version (fork) of NotProton by NotProtonNot, https://github.com/NotProtonNot/NotProton, by way of Leon Seemann's NotProton-WineHQ (below). Raymond Chin and the Bridgeplay contributors have modified it since October 2026. The git history records every change, when it was made and by whom; commits taken from NotProton name the upstream commit or pull request they came from. The NotProton version Bridgeplay is based on is shown in the app's About window and in each release's notes. Bridgeplay is licensed under the GNU General Public License version 3 (GPL-3.0), the same terms as NotProton; see LICENSE. Bridgeplay is free and non-commercial. "Non-commercial" describes how Bridgeplay is distributed and is required by Apple's Game Porting Toolkit license (below); it does not restrict anyone's rights under the GPL-3.0 to Bridgeplay's own code. Files under other licenses are listed below and keep their own terms. Third-party components in Bridgeplay ------------------------------------ Dobby (https://github.com/jmpews/Dobby, commit 5dfc8546), the hooking library linked into notproton.dylib, is licensed under the Apache License 2.0. Full text: LICENSE.dobby. Dobby has no NOTICE file to reproduce. Sparkle 2.10.0 (https://github.com/sparkle-project/Sparkle), embedded in the app as Sparkle.framework for updates, is licensed under the MIT license together with the external licenses it lists. Full text: LICENSE.sparkle. Bridgeplay 0.7.51 and earlier also shipped a DualSense Bluetooth bridge, Steam Input rumble forwarding and a game-mode host, written by sn0wst0rm (https://github.com/sn0wst0rm/NotProton, GPL-3.0). They are left out until the same work, proposed to NotProton as https://github.com/NotProtonNot/NotProton/pull/90, is merged there. Patched Wine (WineCX) binaries ------------------------------ The app bundle ships these prebuilt Wine files, copied into the WineCX engine at setup. Each is built from CodeWeavers' winecx source, as rebased by dappermint (https://github.com/dappermint/winecx) and packaged as a runtime by https://github.com/dappermint/winecx-gptk, with a patch from this repository. Wine is licensed under the GNU Lesser General Public License, version 2.1 or later (LGPL-2.1-or-later); these files keep that license. Wine's license notice and the LGPL-2.1 text ship in the app as LICENSE.wine. Build recipes and sha256 pins are in docs/WINECX.md and each patch directory's README. The Corresponding Source for these binaries is winecx (https://github.com/dappermint/winecx) at the commits named below, plus the patches above. LGPL-2.1-or-later asks whoever distributes the binaries to also provide that source, so Bridgeplay publishes a copy of it alongside the patches, built by scripts/package-wine-patch-sources.sh (see the written offer below for the current archive's name and sha256). WineCX 11.17 (winecx e0aa380780b73e20fabcfe78fd42713b94929a53, runtime 4.7.3): win32u-winecx-11.17.so win32u-patch/patch-driver-version.sh (binary string edit of the runtime's win32u.so) winemac-winecx-11.17.so winemac-patch/winecx-11.17-d3dmetal-retina.patch winebus-winecx-11.17.so unmodified source, built with SDL2 support winebus-winecx-11.17.sys winebus-patch/winecx-sdl-mappings.patch winecoreaudio-winecx-11.17.so winecoreaudio-patch/winecx-render-buffer.patch wined3d-winecx-11.17.dll wined3d-patch/winecx-driver-version.patch ws2_32-winecx-11.17.dll ws2_32-patch/winecx-own-hostname.patch d3dx11_43-winecx-11.17.dll d3dx11-patch/winecx-create-thread-pump.patch d3dx11_43-winecx-11.17-i386.dll (same patch) d3dx11_42-winecx-11.17.dll (same patch) d3dx11_42-winecx-11.17-i386.dll (same patch) crypt32-winecx-11.17.dll ngx-signer-patch/winecx-ngx-signer.patch wintrust-winecx-11.17.dll ngx-signer-patch/winecx-ngx-signer.patch kernel32-winecx-11.17.dll hide-wine-exports-patch/winecx-hide-wine-exports.patch kernelbase-winecx-11.17.dll hide-wine-exports-patch/winecx-hide-wine-exports.patch WineCX 11.15 (winecx 5b45f4564c4f87fa9c0f958733a5e9bb3918a058, runtime 4.5.125): winemac-winecx-11.15.so winemac-patch/winecx-d3dmetal-retina.patch winebus-winecx-11.15.so unmodified source, built with SDL2 support Wine 11.15 (WineHQ release tarball): winemac-winehq-11.15.so winemac-patch/dxmt_export.c All files above are in app/Sources/BridgeplayApp/Resources/. The engine's ntdll is patched at setup with detours built from ntdll-patch/ (detour*.bin in the same folder). nvapi64-shim.dll is Bridgeplay's own code, built from nvapi-shim/. Shipped in the one-click installer (Bridgeplay-Installer.zip) ------------------------------------------------------------- The installer carries no app (Install.command downloads Bridgeplay.zip from this project's GitHub releases). It carries these unmodified archives, so a Mac can set up without downloading them. The app installs the same archives (pinned by sha256 in app/Sources/BridgeplayApp/Model/FreeEngine.swift) when they are not there. DXMT (dxmt-e94c312.tar.gz, built from https://github.com/3Shain/dxmt at e94c312f5c054263acf261cfa109edf13e757587; docs/DXMT.md), Copyright (c) 2023-2026 Feifan He for CodeWeavers, LGPL-2.1-or-later. scripts/build-dxmt.sh packs the license texts (COPYING.LIB, LICENSE, LICENSE-0.80-and-earlier.txt) and the Corresponding Source, the exact source tree the build ran from with its submodules, into every DXMT build from here on, alongside the binaries on the same dxmt- release (see docs/DXMT.md). dxmt-e94c312.tar.gz itself predates that and carries neither; its source is the upstream commit above. DXVK-macOS 1.10.3 (dxvk-macOS-async-v1.10.3-20230507-repack-builtin.tar.gz from https://github.com/Gcenx/DXVK-macOS/releases/tag/v1.10.3-20230507-repack), zlib license. Apple Game Porting Toolkit redistributables (gptk/: external/ with D3DMetal.framework and libd3dshared.dylib, and wine/, from the toolkit's /redist/lib directory), Apple software under Apple's license, shipped as GPTK-License.rtf. Apple's license allows distributing it "solely for non-commercial purposes" (section 2A(iii)), and allows the Framework and Redistributables to be "distributed separately from the Apple Software" (section 2C). The wine/ folder is not Wine: wine/x86_64-windows holds only Apple's proprietary D3DMetal front-end DLLs (d3d10, d3d11, d3d12, d3d12core, dxgi, nvapi64 and nvngx-on-metalfx.dll), and wine/x86_64-unix holds only symlinks to external/libd3dshared.dylib. Apple publishes no source for them, and none is offered here. How each condition of Apple's license is met: docs/GPTK-LICENSE.md. The license texts of DXMT and DXVK ship next to these archives in the installer. Not shipped in the installer: the WineCX runtime (Libraries.tar.gz from https://github.com/dappermint/winecx-gptk, pinned in app/Sources/BridgeplayApp/Model/FreeEngineWinecx.swift). Besides Wine it bundles third-party libraries, some under the GNU GPL (FFmpeg built with --enable-gpl --enable-version3, x264, x265, libdvdcss, libdvdread, libdvdnav), whose corresponding source neither dappermint/winecx-gptk nor Bridgeplay publishes. So Bridgeplay does not redistribute that archive: the app downloads it straight from dappermint/winecx-gptk's GitHub release on the user's Mac. Installers up to Bridgeplay 0.7.50 carried it, which is why it was taken out; those old installer downloads have been removed from the releases. Written offer for source code: the Corresponding Source of each binary above is the upstream source at the commit named above plus the patch or file named next to it, all of which are public: winecx at https://github.com/dappermint/winecx, Wine 11.15 at https://dl.winehq.org/wine/source/11.x/, DXMT at https://github.com/3Shain/dxmt, DXVK-macOS at https://github.com/Gcenx/DXVK-macOS, and the patches in this repository (https://github.com/raymondchins/Bridgeplay). This offer covers every LGPL- or GPL-licensed file Bridgeplay or its installer ships: the patched Wine files in the app (above) and DXMT. It also covers the WineCX runtime, including its GPL libraries, in the installers up to Bridgeplay 0.7.50 that carried it. For at least three years after the last release that ships them, Raymond Chin will also provide that source on request, for no more than the cost of providing it; open an issue at https://github.com/raymondchins/Bridgeplay/issues. The LGPL and this offer ask Bridgeplay to provide that source alongside the binaries it distributes, so Bridgeplay also publishes a copy of the winecx source behind the patched Wine files, packed with the patches and recipes by scripts/package-wine-patch-sources.sh: wine-patch-sources-2d19f09dde5d.tar.gz, sha256 193b33d111f9bac6e3f544a219f9fdc8921c2cf4862f5a70d8b12cc78b1c09d2, published on this project's release of the same name. Covers winecx e0aa380780b73e20fabcfe78fd42713b94929a53 and 5b45f4564c4f87fa9c0f958733a5e9bb3918a058 (the commits named above) plus the patch directories they are built from. Rebuild it (same id and sha256 for the same inputs) whenever those pins or patches change, and republish with --publish. Likewise, every dxmt- release from here on carries a dxmt--source.tar.gz beside the binaries (above; docs/DXMT.md). The DXMT commit currently pinned, e94c312, predates that and has no self-hosted source archive yet; its source is the upstream URL above until the next rebuild adds one. Compatibility data ------------------ compat/reported.json holds "Should work" ratings adapted from AppleGamingWiki's CrossOver reports (https://www.applegamingwiki.com), licensed under CC BY-NC-SA 3.0 (https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/3.0/). The adapted ratings are offered under the same license, not the GPL-3.0. NotProton-WineHQ licensing ========================== NotProton-WineHQ is a modified version (fork) of NotProton, https://github.com/NotProtonNot/NotProton. It was modified by Leon Seemann in 2026, mainly to add a free WineHQ engine that runs without CrossOver. The modifications are licensed under the same terms as the files they change. The original notices below still apply. NotProton has a complex licensing situation. The bulk of the project is licensed under GPLV3. The parts that are modifications of Valve code are licensed under the license that Valve released them under. lsteamclient is licensed under the Steamworks SDK License, see https://github.com/ValveSoftware/Proton/blob/proton_11.0/lsteamclient/LICENSE steam-shim is a port of steam_helper from Proton 9.0, which Valve released under BSD-3-Clause. Steam-shim compiles against Steamworks SDK headers. Those headers are licensed under the Steamworks SDK license whenever they are used. It also compiles against OpenVR and Wine headers, which are BSD-3-Clause and LGPL-V2, respectively. The app bundle embeds Sparkle, which checks for and installs updates. Sparkle is MIT licensed, see https://github.com/sparkle-project/Sparkle/blob/2.10.0/LICENSE The app's interface uses the Geist and Unbounded typefaces, bundled in app/Sources/BridgeplayUI/Resources/Fonts/ under the SIL Open Font License 1.1 (OFL-Geist.txt, OFL-Unbounded.txt there). Game covers shown in the app are read from the user's own Steam library cache or Steam's CDN at run time; none ship with Bridgeplay. /fonts/ contains the font sources from Valve's Proton repo. Fonts are licensed under their original licenses, see the LICENSE file in each folder. The build files from Proton are covered by LICENSE.fonts. The fonts built from them ship in the app, except the Chinese, Japanese and Korean ones (msyh, msyhbd, simsun and malgun from Source Han Sans, msgothic from Ume): Bridgeplay downloads those during setup from the fonts-cjk-* release of this repository, with their licences beside them in the archive. These third party files carry their original notices from the project authors. Their license texts ship in the app and the installer as LICENSE.jsoncpp (JsonCpp, compiled into steam.exe) and LICENSE.cjson (cJSON, compiled into notproton.dylib): steam-shim/jsoncpp.cpp JsonCpp, public domain / MIT (header) steam-shim/json/json.h JsonCpp, public domain / MIT (header) steam-shim/json/json-forwards.h JsonCpp, public domain / MIT (header) vendor/cJSON.c cJSON 1.7.19, MIT (header) vendor/cJSON.h cJSON 1.7.19, MIT (header) The WineCX engine gets an x86_64 SDL2 from the app bundle, for controller support in winebus.so (docs/WINECX.md): app/Sources/BridgeplayApp/Resources/libSDL2-2.0.0.dylib Simple DirectMedia Layer 2.32.10 (SDL-release-2.32.10-0-g5d2495703), https://github.com/libsdl-org/SDL/tree/release-2.32.10, built x86_64 with winemac-patch/sdl2-iokit-gamepad-collection.patch and signed ad hoc.
