About
Four chapters on how the press works — the paste, the ink, the rest, and the people. Each one held still while the ground passes.
Chapter one
Every issue starts on a table in Reviewed. Clippings, seed catalogs, postcards from readers — the paste-up is physical before it is digital, and the grain of the board shows in the layout.
Chapter two
We print in two passes: a warm black for the photographs, a mono pink — the press pink, N°FF9398 — for the things we cannot photograph. The second pass is the point.
“We rest the press between volumes. The rest is part of the work.”
The masthead, Issue N°03
Chapter three
Between volumes the site lies quiet — no new stories, small dispatches only. Fields taught us this: attention, like soil, needs a season of nothing to stay good.
Chapter four
Fallow Press is five people and a board of readers. No ads, no grants that bend the masthead — the library and the print run carry the work.
Say hi
One letter a season, when something ships. Nothing between.
